I received a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Phoenix in 2010. I also intend on getting a master's in education, as well as gaining the credentials to teach multiple subjects. I have worked around children in many different settings, from day care, school, community outreach programs, and tutoring. Over the last four years, I worked with students struggling from various educational challenges such as ADHD, dyslexia, autism, and a range of sensory processing disorders.I tutor multiple subjects, such as algebra II and a range of science classes. While I enjoy tutoring in a wide variety of subjects, I especially enjoy teaching history and language arts. I also have a wealth of experience teaching study skills and standardized test preparation.I believe in establishing a connection with my students, which I find myself to be adept in doing, in order to facilitate learning. It is essential for a tutor to have an interest in helping his or her students. To that end, I design lessons that focus on building upon the student's strengths as well as overcoming weaknesses. I also value honesty and direct communication in my tutoring style. I believe a teacher should be honest when offering constructive feedback to students, especially when helping them strengthen their weak points.As a mother of two young children, with another expected shortly, I have the patience and understanding needed to help students navigate through their challenges. My hobbies include spending time with my family, being outdoors, and doing art in my free time.
